Datini Fibres is a materials science company based in Karachi, Pakistan, dedicated to transforming post-consumer wool waste into premium recycled fibres. A member of the IWTO, Datini champions circular textile solutions by collecting wool waste from across the globe and converting it into high-quality fibres, yarns, and textiles.
This innovative approach demonstrates the enduring value and recyclability of wool.
One of Datini’s standout initiatives is Upcycling Farm—an inspired project rooted in the Japanese philosophy of Kintsugi, which embraces beauty in imperfection. Through this initiative, old sweaters and wool products are creatively reimagined into unique fashion and lifestyle items, giving them a meaningful second life.
Wool Upcycling and Recycling Under One Roof
Upcycling Farm was conceived as a perfect meeting of sustainability and style. It is based on the ethos of “Kintsugi” – the Japanese art of using gold to repair broken pottery, thus upcycling an item into something better and more valuable than the original. Accordingly, Upcycling Farm takes fibres from old, well-worn garments and transforms them into fashion-forward creations.
The business also offers a global take-back collection service that converts unused inventory into fresh, new fashion creations. At the same time, environmental consciousness aligns with high fashion, proving that sustainability does not have to involve a downgrade in quality or design.

The IWTO and its members are passionate about promoting the sustainable, recyclable, and upcyclable qualities of wool. Upcycling Farm and Datini Fibres are perhaps the world’s leading examples of this, each of them focusing on two different parts of the supply chain.
While Upcycling Farm creates exciting new designs from recycled fibres, Datini Fibres focuses on spinning high-quality yarn from old sweaters destined for landfills. From these raw materials, the company produces three product ranges: DFiber, DYarn and DNon-woven.
DFiber is recycled from post-consumed textiles and presents new colour ranges without the use of any chemicals or dyes. DYarn is a high-quality yarn produced from DFIbre. DNon-woven is a thermally regulated, antibacterial fabric specially crafted from recycled wool.
