Celebrating Wool Outdoors
At Europe’s largest outdoor trade show, Outdoor by ISPO
Under the theme “Celebrating the Outdoors,” more than 300 exhibitors and thousands of outdoor professionals gathered at Outdoor by ISPO earlier this week after a three-year hiatus to present new products and innovations and share a love of the outdoors.
Outdoor by ISPO caters to a booming European outdoor industry which produced record sales of €6.2 billion in 2021, an increase of 19 percent over the previous year’s total, according to The European Outdoor Group (EOG), the show’s exclusive sponsor.
Sustainability, regenerative business practices and innovative materials all featured highly throughout the three-day event. Many exhibitors showcased a wide range of sustainable product highlights at their booths. Supply chain challenges and rising prices were also part of the conversations.
Wool held its own and then some, in this fair-minded but frequently synthetic-clad crowd. Favourites like Lavalan and Südwolle Group starred in the Transparency Tour offered by the consultancy GreenRoom Voice in the Sustainability Hub. Südwolle Group showcased its biodegradable Merino yarns, while Lavalan’s European-based wool insulation, fully traceable, delighted those who yearn to keep production local.
